Signing with Sam — a screenplay
An original screenplay by authors Taylor St. Sauvage Brandon and Niko Zinovii
Synopsis:
Signing with Sam is a comedic drama. The story is centered on a man who is working for the Bronx Zoo. Although he has reached retirement age, he chooses not to do so as he fears he would find himself alone, faced with an unfulfilled life. His rather simple life becomes complicated after there is an incident at the zoo involving a chimpanzee who accidentally causes the death of a teenager who was abusing the zoo’s animals. Authorities order the chimp destroyed.
The caring old man, because of his special relationship with the chimp, steals the primate and hides him out at his apartment in New York. Their relationship grows as they communicate with sign language.
Similar in feel to Ernest Borgnine’s classic Marty, but with comedy and entertainment for the entire family.
